Ukraine to Install an Additional 4,000 km of Anti-Drone Protection Along Roads by Year-End

Ukraine is accelerating the construction of anti-drone nets to protect against enemy UAVs in border regions. By the end of 2026, the country plans to install 4,000 km of anti-drone protection along highways.

“Near the front line, Russia is using drones as a tool of terror against civilian vehicles, rescue workers, and repair crews. On the President’s orders, we are strengthening the protection of frontline territories and accelerating the construction of anti-drone nets. The focus is on roads that ensure uninterrupted logistics and the functioning of communities near the line of combat,” stated Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

An additional ₴1.6 billion was allocated from the budget for anti-drone nets. In February, despite difficult weather conditions, an additional 125 km of roads were covered and 55 km of structures were restored.

Over the course of the month, the pace of anti-drone protection installation increased from 5 km per day in January to 12 km in February. This significantly enhanced the safety of military personnel on the move and ensured the stable functioning of frontline communities.

“As early as March, we plan to cover 20 km of roads per day. By the end of the year, we plan to install another 4,000 km of anti-drone protection along highways,” noted Mykhailo Fedorov.

At the same time, the construction of fortifications in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions has been accelerated to ensure the resilience of the defense and effective counteraction to enemy offensives.
