The Defense Forces Have Tripled Their Use of Ground-Based Robotic Systems
The number of logistics and evacuation missions carried out by ground-based robotic systems in the Ukrainian Defense Forces has increased 3.3-fold since the beginning of 2026. In August alone, these systems completed more than 25,000 tasks on the front lines.
According to data from the DELTA combat system, as of early September, approximately 112,000 logistics and evacuation missions using ground-based robotic systems had been recorded since the beginning of the year.
Ground-based robotic systems are deployed in the most dangerous sections of the front line to deliver ammunition, water, and food, as well as to evacuate the wounded. This helps reduce the direct presence of military personnel in high-risk areas.
The intensity of robotic system use is increasing every month. While they carried out 7,511 missions in January, that number rose to 19,940 in July and reached 25,143 in August. Thus, the August figure was 3.3 times higher than that of January.
At the same time, the supply of such systems to the military is expanding. The Defense Procurement Agency (DOTA) announced its first tender for the procurement of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) in accordance with the tactical and technical specifications defined by the Ministry of Defense.
The increase in the use of ground-based robotics demonstrates the continued integration of unmanned technologies into logistics and battlefield evacuation, where automation directly helps reduce risks to personnel.
