The mass exodus of brands from the Ukrainian market is gaining momentum
In early 2026, local and international brands continued to exit the Ukrainian market. Among the companies that are winding down or have already ceased operations are “Sviy Market,” Pampik, Reebok, and InStreet.
The first months of 2026 were marked by extremely alarming trends for Ukraine’s retail and services sectors. There has been a systematic winding down of operations by both local chains with a long history and major international players.
RAU has compiled areview of companies that permanently exited the market in the first quarter of 2026.
For example, in January 2026, it was reported that another retail chain – Sviy Market (managed by Smart Grocery Alliance LLC) – had exited the grocery retail market in western Ukraine. Until recently, it was a significant player in the Lviv region’s food retail market in the mini-market and “convenience store” segments. At the peak of its development in the spring of 2022, the retailer had 53 retail locations. However, by the end of 2023, only 37 Sviy Market stores remained in operation, located mostly in Lviv. Over the next two years, the company began systematically reducing the number of its stores and eventually exited the market.
In early 2026, the online store Pampik ceased operations. One of the oldest players in the children’s goods market officially ceased operations on January 31, and its assets and the future development of the category were transferred to the management of the Maudau marketplace. The press service of the Fozzy Group holding explained this decision as a desire to optimize business processes and establish a more sustainable financial model.
In February, it was announced that the Reebok sportswear and footwear chain is ceasing operations in Ukraine. The brand’s last two stores in Kyiv will remain open until May 2026 – at the Retroville and SkyMall shopping centers.
FLO is also shutting down another format in Ukraine – the InStreet sportswear store at the Respublika Park shopping center. According to Yulia Shchaslyva, CEO of the Respublika Park shopping center, InStreet’s lease agreement expired in early March. On March 4, 2026, a store from the sports retailer Marathon opened in InStreet’s former location. As a reminder, in late April 2025, the FLO chain also closed its store in the Respublika Park shopping center.
