The government has allowed agricultural exporters to extend payment terms up to 180 days
The Cabinet of Ministers has expanded the options available to Ukrainian agricultural exporters to extend the payment deadlines under foreign trade contracts. Upon a company’s request, the Ministry of Economy and Environment will be able to extend the established deadline by a maximum of 180 calendar days.
The decision applies to a number of key agricultural commodities, including wheat, rye, barley, oats, corn, soybeans, rapeseed, sunflower seeds, and soybean, sunflower, rapeseed, and mustard oils, as well as oilseed meal.
The need for these changes stems from complications in export logistics caused by Russian attacks on civilian vessels and port infrastructure. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the time spent on logistics by Ukrainian exporters has increased by approximately 40–50%. Rerouting cargo to alternative routes extends delivery times and creates risks of delays in the return of foreign currency proceeds.
The option for individual extensions of payment deadlines is intended to reduce the risk of financial penalties for companies in cases where payment delays arise due to circumstances beyond the exporter’s control. The government expects that this decision will help support agricultural exports, foreign currency inflows, and producers’ resources for future production cycles.
Previously, the NBU had already extended from 120 to 150 days the payment deadline for exports of certain grains, oilseeds, and their processed products for transactions conducted from July 1, 2026, to August 31, 2027.
