In August 2026, units of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine cleared 999 hectares of territory liberated from Russian occupation. Demining units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service are involved in the work.

Over the course of the month, specialists surveyed and cleared 106.8 hectares of agricultural land of mines and explosive remnants of war. Separate operations were conducted on transportation infrastructure: deminers cleared 27.15 km of roads and 40.7 km of railways.

In August, 304 explosive devices were detected and destroyed. In total, since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, units have already neutralized 483,002 explosive devices.

Demining liberated territories remains a crucial prerequisite for restoring the land to economic use, reestablishing transportation links, and ensuring the safe functioning of communities.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense reported that Ukraine will also record demining costs in the international Register of Damages. This is intended to form the documentary basis for future claims for compensation for damages caused by Russia.
