The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has supported changes to the Unified State Electronic System in the Field of Construction (EDESSB).

From now on, project documentation and expert reports will have to include a checklist to check the accessibility of buildings for people with disabilities and other groups with limited mobility, like parents with strollers, older folks, and pregnant women.

This checklist will be completed by architects, designers, and expert organizations. It will confirm that the project has been developed in accordance with building codes for inclusivity and barrier-free space.

The new tool will become part of the EDESSB digital system and will ensure barrier-free control at all stages, from project creation to commissioning. This will improve the quality of design, make processes in the construction industry more transparent, and ensure that new buildings in the country are convenient and accessible.
