Ukrainian UPC helped implement e-commerce payment solutions in Bulgaria
The Ukrainian company UPC implemented an upgrade to the e-commerce payment systems for one of Bulgaria’s largest banks to facilitate the transition from the lev to the euro. The solution enabled hundreds of online merchants to accept payments in the European currency.
Changes in the settings of e-commerce payment systems caused by Bulgaria's transition from the lev to the euro were implemented by the Ukrainian company Ukrainian Processing Center (UPC) at the request of its client, one of the largest banks in Bulgaria. This was reported by the company's press service.
Within a short period of time, UPC carried out a series of reconfigurations that allowed hundreds of Bulgarian online merchants to accept payments in euros starting January 1, 2026, replacing the former national currency, the lev, which ceased to be a means of payment due to Bulgaria's transition to the common European currency.
The scope of work for this order included the development of appropriate solutions for Bulgarian online merchants to accept payments in euros, namely the authorisation of transactions in European currency (including offline transactions), clearing, etc. UPC's list of services was also supplemented by testing innovations, putting them into industrial operation, and providing ongoing support.
The Ukrainian company UPC participates in the implementation of e-commerce payment solutions for representatives of such leading banking groups in Ukraine as Credit Agricole, OTP, Raiffeisen Bank International, Intesa Sanpaolo, Piraeus, and others. In addition to Ukraine and Bulgaria, UPC solutions provide convenient and secure online payments in markets such as Austria, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Serbia, Hungary, and Croatia.
