Ukraine and Lithuania Have Established a Joint Energy Partnership Group

Ukraine and Lithuania have identified key areas for further cooperation in the energy sector and have established a joint Lithuanian-Ukrainian Energy Partnership Coordination Group. The corresponding declaration was signed by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Minister of Energy of Lithuania Lukas Savickas during a meeting in Kyiv. This was reported on the Ministry’s website.

Among the main areas of the partnership are the restoration of energy infrastructure, the development of decentralized generation and energy storage systems, gas infrastructure and supply diversification, integration into European energy markets, and strengthening the protection of energy facilities.

The parties paid special attention to the development of B2B partnerships. Lithuanian manufacturers, engineering companies, and technology suppliers are ready to participate in projects to rebuild Ukraine’s energy sector, particularly within the framework of cooperation with the Energy Community.

Ukraine also counts on continued assistance with energy equipment. Lithuania has already transferred equipment from the Vilnius CHPP-3, and the parties are working to expedite the transfer of equipment from the Kaunas CHPP to meet Kryvyi Rih’s needs ahead of the heating season.

Another strategic priority will be gas security. The parties plan to expand supply routes, explore opportunities for European partners to use the Klaipėda LNG terminal and regional gas infrastructure, as well as Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities.

In total, Lithuania has transferred over 6,317 metric tons of energy equipment to Ukraine, and its contribution to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine amounts to 5.7 million euros.
