A high-level workshop was held in Kyiv to discuss the current situation in the railway sector and prepare an action plan for development and financial stabilization, according to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.

The workshop was organized by the World Bank in cooperation with the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, the European Commission, the European Investment Bank, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The meeting was attended by representatives of international financial organizations, the chair of the railway transport subcommittee of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Transport and Infrastructure, representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance, members of the supervisory board and management board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia.

Following the workshop, which served as a common platform for coordinating positions between state bodies and international partners, a common understanding was formed on the need to develop a comprehensive Action Plan for reforming, stabilizing, and ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the railway sector, in parallel with the implementation of European integration legislative changes in the transport sector.
