Revenue at Ukraine’s Largest Theaters Rose 16% Over the Season

The nine largest state and municipal theaters in Ukraine collectively generated approximately 980 million UAH in revenue during the 2025–2026 season. This is 16% more than in the previous season, according to Forbes Ukraine’s calculations based on data from YouControl.

The Kyiv National Academic Operetta Theater led in revenue — over 260 million hryvnias, an 11% increase over the previous season. During the fiscal year, the theater staged 342 performances, presented six premieres, and welcomed over 130,000 audience members.

Second place went to the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater with revenue of 187.3 million UAH. The theater also demonstrated the highest growth rate among the ranking’s participants — its revenue increased by 45%. Over the season, the theater staged 744 performances and sold approximately 266,000 tickets.

The Kyiv Youth Theater ended the season with revenue of approximately 105 million UAH, which is 14% less than the previous year. The Kyiv Theater of Drama and Comedy on the left bank of the Dnipro earned 83.4 million UAH (+9%), while the National Opera of Ukraine earned 79.4 million UAH (+1%). The list of the top theaters by revenue also included the Maria Zankovetska Theater and the Ivano-Frankivsk Drama Theater.

The growth in total revenue to nearly 1 billion UAH demonstrates the strengthening of economic activity among Ukrainian theaters and steady demand for cultural events despite the conditions of a full-scale war.
