Exports of grains and oilseeds from Ukraine fell by 12% in the 2025/26 season

In the 2025/26 marketing season, Ukraine exported 41.1 million metric tons of grains and oilseeds, which is 12% less than the previous year. In the previous season, exports totaled 46.7 million metric tons, according to the Ukrainian Grain Association.

The UGA attributes the decline to lower production, EU import quotas on Ukrainian wheat, a challenging situation in global markets, and logistical problems caused by Russian attacks on energy, transportation, and port infrastructure.

In monetary terms, exports of grains and oilseeds totaled $10 billion, compared to $11.2 billion a year earlier. At the same time, including processed products — vegetable oils, oilcake, and meal — revenues remained virtually unchanged: $18 billion compared to $18.1 billion in the 2024/25 season.

The largest volumes were accounted for by corn — 21 million metric tons worth nearly $4.6 billion — wheat — about 14 million metric tons worth $3 billion — and barley — 1.52 million metric tons worth $325 million. Soybean exports totaled 2.7 million metric tons, and rapeseed exports totaled 1.82 million metric tons.

Due to the slowdown in exports, carryover stocks of grains and oilseeds at the start of the new marketing year rose to nearly 13 million metric tons, compared with 7.4 million metric tons a year earlier.
