Cement concrete roads: technologies, standards, prospects
A scientific and practical seminar dedicated to the development of cement-concrete roads in Ukraine was held in Kyiv. 250 participants discussed technologies, standards, the durability of road infrastructure, and the potential for localizing production.
The team of the State Enterprise “National Institute for Infrastructure Development” with the support of the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development of Ukraine and the Ukrcement Association held a scientific and practical seminar “Cement concrete roads: technologies, standards, prospects” on February 11 in Kyiv.
The event was attended by 250 participants from different regions of Ukraine, including representatives of regional restoration services, regional military administrations, local road balance holders, local self-government bodies, contracting, design, expert, and engineering companies, as well as suppliers of modern materials and technologies from different regions of Ukraine.
Unfortunately, there is sometimes a prevailing opinion in society that the issue of road development is “not relevant” during martial law. However, in reality, motorways are a critically important component of national resilience, ensuring uninterrupted logistics, the functioning of the economy, and connections between communities and regions.
During the event, participants discussed how to make roads durable, reliable, and safe. Can cement concrete roads be a systemic response to these challenges?
The participants of the scientific and practical seminar unanimously concluded that the development of cement concrete roads is a strategic choice in favor of durability and localization.
